Patrice Jean *99 was the featured speaker at the Star Lessons in Leadership Series on February 18, 2020.

Patrice P. Jean is an intellectual property attorney and a partner in the law firm Hughes Hubbard & Reed where she serves as co-chair of the Life Sciences group. She has over a decade of experience counseling leading and startup companies in all areas of intellectual property law. In particular, she is adept at asserting and defending the patent and trademark rights underlying the core technologies and innovations of leading pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology companies. Prior to attending Columbia Law School, Jean earned her Ph.D. in molecular biology from Princeton University and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana. 

Patrice spoke about the importance of inclusive and culturally competent leadership that combines a Ph.D. and J.D., and biotech and pharma innovation. She emphasized the importance of what it really takes to be a good leader and how her time at Princeton helped to shape the person that she is today.
