Fellowship Description Science Outreach is seeking a STEM focused University Administrative Fellow. The UAF will assist in developing infrastructure for the new science outreach program that supports natural science academic units. The fellow will assist in developing programs and oversight for a Science Outreach undergraduate fellows program, evaluation and tracking, marketing materials, website, newsletter, and social media management for science outreach initiatives. The UAF will also help coordinate existing and future science outreach opportunities between academic departments and community partners and assist in managing a coordinated calendar of science outreach events and programs. The Science Outreach UAF will gain skills in program development and planning while learning the impact of community engagement with operational and logistical support regarding researching and identifying the needs of local schools and the community. Science outreach is specific in that it must meet the needs of both university science departments and community stakeholders. The work suits students with technical skills and an interest in community outreach, university program administration that includes collaboration with academic departments (faculty, staff, and students) and K-12 and community organizations. Your Host Science Outreach Science Outreach was created in 2022 to facilitate mutually beneficial and sustainable relationships between Princeton University Science educators and researchers on the one hand, and local K-12 school districts, non-profit organizations, and community stakeholders on the other. Science Outreach serves as a nexus connecting faculty, students, and postdocs with youth, schoolteachers, nonprofit organizations, and the broader community with the goals of increasing engagement, participation, equity, and inclusion in STEM fields. UAF Mentor Paryn A. Wallace Associate Director of Science Outreach Dr. Paryn A. Wallace was selected in the inaugural role as the Associate Director of Science Outreach at Princeton University. She supports ten academic departments enhance their existing outreach initiatives in the surrounding community and beyond to increase the pipeline of underrepresented students in STEM. Prior to accepting this position, Dr. Wallace was the Undergraduate Student and Diversity Outreach Administrator in the Princeton Neuroscience Institute at Princeton University, where she supported the educational experience of Neuroscience undergraduate students and created a robust community outreach program.
