Share on Twitter Share on Facebook Share on LinkedIn Written by GradFUTURES April 11, 2022 Dr. Sonali Majumdar, a recognized leader in the field of graduate-centered professional development, will join the GradFUTURES team in the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School at Princeton University as Assistant Dean for Professional Development, effective May 2, 2022. She will report to Associate Dean and Director Eva Kubu. Since June 2018, Dr. Majumdar has led graduate professional development efforts as Associate Director of Graduate Professional Development at the University of Virginia. At UVA, she played an integral role in developing and directing Ph.D. Plus - a comprehensive professional development program for all Ph.D. students and Postdocs at UVA. She also led the administrative team for UVA’s participation in the American Association of University’s AAU Ph.D. Education Initiative, "Sonali is a national voice for student-centered graduate professional development," said Eva Kubu, Associate Dean for Professional Development and Director of GradFUTURES. "She brings deep expertise in preparing graduate students for academic and professional success, extensive experience building internal and external partnerships, and a strong commitment to ensuring equitable access to opportunity." With an active presence in the Graduate Career Consortium (GCC) professional association, Dr. Majumdar serves as social media chair of the Carpe Careers Inside Higher Ed writing group and is the founding chair of the International Community of Practice for foreign-born GCC members. “I am honored to join the GradFUTURES team in the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School, which has created an innovative and ground-breaking professional development model for graduate students. I look forward to developing, scaling and sustaining the multi-stakeholder collaborative ecosystem to enable bespoke opportunities and embed professional development within the academic experience of graduate students. As a trained scientist, I particularly welcome the opportunity to serve as a professional development liaison for natural sciences and engineering graduate programs," said Sonali. An RNA biologist by training, Sonali earned her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Georgia and did postdoctoral training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
