Bio/Description

Lawrence is a second-year PhD student  in the Comparative Literature Department and a University Administrative Fellow with GradFutures. Although he broadly works at the intersection of African and Ancient Greco-Roman literatures, he is primarily interested in how African and Black diaspora literatures and films deal with questions of environmental crisis as well as their attentiveness to Black futurisms (Africanfuturism and Afrofuturism).

"My connection to GradFUTURES was instantaneously mutual. I wanted to integrate my academic growth with professional development and thus becoming a University Administrative Fellow with GradFUTURES has afforded me the opportunity!

I am thrilled and grateful to GradFUTURES for affording me the opportunity to further bolster its already established ties with Princeton University Press. The fact that I am working with a team in GradFUTURES under the mentorship of Dean Van Wyck to reach out to Princeton University’s diverse graduate student body is an incredible hallmark in my professional development. During my stint I have learned about the resources that are available to graduate students and also equipped with administrative knowledge of Princeton University Press’s  internal workings as well as how such skill sets can  be useful not only to an aspiring professional in academia, but even pursuant to a career in a publishing press. I have, therefore, nothing but glowing endorsements to any graduate student considering being an University Administrative Fellow with GradFUTURES."

I have participated in the following GradFUTURES Programs: University Administrative Fellowship,  GradFUTURES Forum
