Bio/Description

Dr. Ijeoma Nwagwu serves as Interim Director for the Office of Sustainability at Princeton University, where she supports strategic actions across campus operational and academic systems towards the University’s sustainability and carbon neutrality targets. Ijeoma also leads the Campus as a Lab program (CAL) at Princeton University - a unique place-based research and experiential learning platform that utilizes the campus as a test bed for sustainability whilst partnering with faculty, staff, students and researchers alike to study and solve climate challenges.

Prior to Princeton University, Ijeoma served in senior administrative and faculty roles at Lagos Business School in Nigeria, where she was involved in teaching, research, and collaborative projects in the fields of sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and international development. A masters and doctorate alumni of Harvard Law School, Dr. Ijeoma started her career as a civil rights lawyer. She worked with the Institute for Democracy in South Africa, lectured at St. Mary’s University College, London and consulted for the World Bank and Ford Foundation. She has published and presented papers in the areas of corporate social responsibility, sustainable development, and nonprofit leadership.

Dr. Nwagwu serves on the board of several nonprofits including the Association for Research on Civil Society in Africa (AROCSA), Sustyvibes, and Afrotech Girls. She also serves as a leadership liaison in the IVY+ Sustainability Consortium.
