Position
History Teacher, Montclair Kimberley Academy
Bio/Description

After obtaining my graduate degree in Politics (focus on political theory) from Princeton, I elected to move into secondary school teaching.  I taught seven years at the Pingry School, and since 2007 have been a history teacher at Montclair Kimberley Academy, in Montclair, NJ.  Over my career, I have taught a variety of courses, including European history, world history (ancient and modern), United States history, and World Religions, and have advised a number of groups, including student government, Model UN, Model Congress, and the debate team.  I also served as upper school history department chair at MKA for nine years.

"I was very reflective early on about whether or not I wanted to go into post-secondary academia, and was very deliberate about designing my c.v. for alternative paths, which proved useful, at least for hiring purposes. Teaching I have learned through doing -- the best way to do it.

Think about where you want to end up, and develop a plan to get there.  Even if the plan changes (and mine did), you'll have moved in the right direction."
