Bio/Description

Daniel Persia is an educator, translator and PhD Candidate in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese. His research takes translation to be a vital tool for reimagining the humanities, showing how collaboration can lead to more authentic engagement with 21st-century ethical debates. Before coming to Princeton, he served as a National Science Foundation Noyce Teaching Fellow at the Boston Arts Academy, a Creative at Apple, and Regional Lead for the US-Brazil Fulbright Commission.

Daniel has participated in various GradFUTURES programs and learning cohorts, including Ethics of AI. He has served as a University Administrative Fellow with the Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs & Operations, strengthening communications, fundraising, and database management for the Mpala Research Centre in Laikipia County, Kenya.

"The GradFUTURES UAF program has allowed me to develop transferable skills by: designing newsletters, leading social media campaigns, building a donor database, analyzing outreach efforts, and more, all with real-world impact. [As a UAF] with the International Affairs & Operations team, I've gotten a behind-the-scenes look at how Princeton builds and sustains relationships with partnering institutions across the globe. Traveling to the Mpala Research Centre in Kenya and meeting the local team was a life-changing experience that has shaped both my research and professional goals.

For any graduate students considering a UAF, talk with the GradFUTURES team about what you're interested in learning and what kind of team you want to be a part of. Find something different that complements your academic interests but doesn't replicate them."

I have participated in the following GradFUTURES Programs: University Administrative Fellowship, GradFUTURES Forum, GradFUTURES Learning Cohort
