Hi there, I am a graduate student in Chemical and Biological Engineering. I work in the Avalos Lab, where we engineer proteins to help yeast make useful products like biofuels. In addition, I serve on the Graduate Student Government as our Communications Director. My goal is to make sure that students are both informed and heard. To that end, I'm excited to be a part of the Professional Development Working Group and help connect graduate students to different career opportunities.
Graduate school is an amazing time to explore career options, and GradFUTURES makes it easy. I used to worry that my only choices were academia or industry, but GradFUTURES has shown me more career pathways than I could have imagined.
I am one of the Graduate Student Government liaisons to the Professional Development Working Group; I also serve on the Assessment subgroup. It's been wonderful to meet the people behind GradFUTURES, who are all so passionate about helping graduate students succeed. I am grateful our programs enjoy such a high level of engagement, and I'm eager to learn how we can better help our graduate students.
I have participated in the following GradFUTURES Programs:
- GradFUTURES Forum
- GradFUTURES Learning Cohort
