Join Carol Barash, PhD *89, founder and CEO of Story2 (www.story2.com) in a full-ranging exploration of the successes and challenges of professional development outside the academy. The goal of this half-day workshop is to bring together graduate students and graduate alumni to share stories and explore common themes in launching and growing high-value careers which leverage the unique skill sets and leadership competencies gleaned through graduate professional development. Sponsored by the Graduate Student Government and the GradFUTURES professional development team in the Office of the Dean of the Graduate School, this discussion is part of the University's ongoing commitment to graduate student and graduate alumni professional development and success. Carol Barash received a BA from Yale, summa cum laude. as a Scholar of the House ('81), and an MA from the University of Virginia ('83). She was the first graduate student at Princeton to be given permission by the Graduate School to study gender as a theoretical construct in her general exams and dissertation, work which became *English Women's Poetry 1649-1714: Politics, Community, and Linguistic Authority* (Oxford UP, 1997), selected as one of the 100 most important scholarly books in the humanities in the 1990s. She taught at Michigan and Rutgers before returning to Princeton as the Associate Director of the pioneering Center for Electronic Texts in the Humanities from 1994-95. Her career spans education, technology, and community building in Higher Ed, marketing, and non-profits. She has served Princeton as the VP of the APGA, one of the graduate student co-chairs of the Centennial of the Graduate School (1999), a member of the Women's Leadership Council, and Chair of Graduate Alumni Annual Giving. She received the Alumni Council Award for Service to Princeton in 2008. She is the proud mother of 2 undergraduate alumni!
