Event Description

The biggest AI impacts won’t be borne out in a calculus of jobs but rather in seismic shifts in the level of expertise required to do them.

Based on his forthcoming report featured in a recent Harvard Business Review article, Princeton alumnus Matt Sigelman ‘95, president of the Burning Glass Institute and a senior adviser to the Harvard Project on Workforce, will share insights regarding the shifting demand for expertise as deployment of generative AI changes the range of skills, experiences, and credentials needed both to gain entry to careers and to progress with them.

What will it take to start your career in the middle vs. the beginning in parts of the labor market where entry-level opportunity dwindles? And what steps will enable graduate degree earners to put to greatest advantage the expertise they have accrued through their studies?

This event is hosted by the Princeton University Graduate School as part of the 2025 GradFUTURES Forum, a weeklong professional development conference for graduate students offering opportunities for meaningful professional growth and exploration of futures within and beyond the academy. With many inspiring keynote speakers, interactive workshops, career panels, and networking receptions, the 2025 GradFUTURES Forum is open to the broader graduate community at Princeton and beyond.
