In this workshop, we will explore the setup, configuration, and efficient use of Microsoft's Visual Studio Code (VS Code) as it relates to working on Princeton's Research Computing clusters. We will focus primarily on programming in Python and C++, but adding tools for other languages as needed is trivial. We will also explore Git/GitHub integrations that allow for efficient version control and basic debugging options in interactive Slurm sessions (e.g., those spawned using salloc). Additionally, the use of GitHub Copilot while coding will be scattered throughout. You should have an account on Adroit or one of the large Research Computing clusters (Della, Stellar, Tiger). If you need an account on Adroit please make a request at least one hour before the workshop. Only faculty members can request accounts for researchers and students on the large clusters. Accessibility To request accommodations for this or any event, please contact the organizer or the GradFUTURES team at least 3 working days prior to the event.
