Event Description

The Graduate School, in collaboration with McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning and the Office of Undergraduate Research, is offering a bootcamp on effective research mentorship practices. This bootcamp, adapted from McGraw Center’s Learning Mentoring program, is developed for graduate students (and postdocs) mentors in the ReMatch Plus program. Additional spots are available for PhD students serving as research mentors for summer undergraduate researchers, who are interested in further developing mentoring expertise and skills.

About the mentorship bootcamp.
The 3-part bootcamp is scheduled on May 16, May 23 and May 30 between 10 am- 2 pm. Lunch is included. As there are limited available spots, please RSVP if you can attend on all 3 days.

This bootcamp is informed by evidence-based "best practices" for intentional and inclusive mentoring, as well as field-tested ways to develop a reflective and inclusive personal style. In the bootcamp, we'll explore these and offer ample time to develop your skills in a collaborative environment of peers who shared interests (and experiences) of mentoring trainees. Learning outcomes include developing your own conceptual framework for and approach to mentoring, and a draft statement of mentoring philosophy.
