Leaders with this skillset can help build and sustain inclusive cultures at every level within our institutions, organizations, and communities. As part of this series, guest speakers will share personal stories, practical strategies, and ways they promote individual and collective action. We look forward to these important conversations. As we partner with graduate students to design an Inclusive Leadership Series with the goal of developing both a co-curricular certificate track and flexible participation options, we have identified Rackham’s program as a best practice within graduate education. Join Deborah Willis, Ph.D., Senior Program Lead for the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Certificate program and Program Manager for professional and academic development at the Rackham Graduate School of the University of Michigan for a 30-minute talk/presentation and 30-minute Q&A to learn about the development, implementation, content and impact of Rackham’s DEI certificate program – as well as the outcomes for their graduate community. The Rackham Professional Development DEI Certificate is part of the institution’s commitment to enhancing the development and training offerings related to diversity, equity, and inclusion for all University of Michigan graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Dr. Willis will share how the program is designed to prepare participants with the skills and competencies needed to work and lead in a diverse environment while fostering a climate of inclusivity.
