Fellowship Description The Academic Data Science Alliance (ADSA) offers GradFUTURES Fellows an opportunity to examine and advance best practices in academic data science teaching and research, and understand how this nascent field is emerging in academic and professional spaces. The Data Science Ethos is a framework that offers practitioners, educators, and students structured ways of thinking about social and ethical contexts of each stage of the data science research process. ADSA seeks to expand the ways users can engage with the framework by soliciting and creating case studies, lesson materials, and additional tools for interacting with the Ethos concepts. The GradFUTURES SIF will work to create additional materials for engaging with the Ethos, in collaboration with ADSA staff and community members. Responsibilities Independently and in coordination with collaborators, develop case studies and lesson materials for the Data Science Ethos Participate in Ethos-related meetings with ADSA staff and community members Create additional materials for the Ethos, including web content, marketing materials, and presentations Requirements Experience with concepts and research in the areas of Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Studies, Research Ethics, and/or adjacent fields of study Experience with developing lesson plans and other curricular materials for students at the undergraduate and graduate levels Strong communication and organizational skills Your Host The Academic Data Science Alliance is a community of researchers and educators who take responsibility for a just, equitable future where data science approaches are thoughtfully applied in all domains for the benefit of all.
