GradFUTURES is pleased to offer Sustainability learning cohort for graduate students and postdocs in Spring 2025, in partnership with the Office of Sustainability. This cohort will run on Mondays, 4.30-6.30 pm between February 17- April 21. Co-developed by Faculty Fellow in Professional Development Innovation and GradFUTURES graduate student fellows (UAF and PDA), this learning cohort leverages expertise of Princeton’s faculty, graduate students, staff and alumni, and external partners. Through guest speakers, case studies and immersive capstone, graduate students will learn, discuss and investigate goals and dimensions of Sustainability, and practical challenges and solutions. Upon successful completion of learning cohort including capstone, participants will receive a micro-credential and certification recognizing their proficiency in Sustainability. Learning Objectives Participants of GradFUTURES Sustainability learning cohort will learn and discuss the following: Sustainability goals and dimensions (e.g., environmental, social, economic) across fieldsSystems thinking for sustainable design and solutions of complex (climate-related) challenges impacting societyEnvironment and social sustainability approaches and impacts for business, technology, research, entrepreneurship, policyRole of individual and collective behaviors on sustainabilityImperative of interdisciplinary and cross-sector (academic-public-private) collaboration Effective and dynamic communication and storytelling to inform and influence decision makers. GradFUTURES Learning Cohort Interest Form About GradFUTURES Learning Cohorts GradFUTURES’ interdisciplinary learning cohorts build community among and between graduate students and reinforce each student’s graduate training while drawing on their content knowledge to inform the cohort’s investigation of the topic. As part of the cohort, students will read and discuss books, articles, and case studies. Learning cohorts typically also include at least one experiential component such as an immersive project, a site visit, conference presentation, or fellowship/internship opportunities. Interdisciplinary discussions, reflection, synthesis, community building, and immersive experiences are integral components of each learning cohort experience.
