Maya Chung, GS, AOS

Position
Professional Development Associate 24-25
Bio/Description

I am a 5th year PhD candidate in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences in Prof. Gabriel Vecchi's research group. I study climate changes on interannual to multi-century timescales, as well as interactions between climate and infectious diseases.

Princeton has empowered me to explore my interests in public policy to supplement my climate science research, through programs like the HMEI-STEP fellowship, C-PREE's Environmental Policy Associates, and the Princeton Energy and Climate Scholars. These allowed me to develop interests in climate and environmental health policy, which I pursued through research and GradFUTURE's professional development programming to better understand careers in those fields.

I encourage other graduate students to pursue opportunities to broaden your horizons both academically and professionally. This can give you a better understanding of the broader context around your research and even make it more impactful, as well as expose you to more career paths that might be a great fit for you!

As a Professional Development Associate, I look forward to working with the dedicated, innovative team at GradFUTURES to provide students across the university with practical professional development experiences.
