Computer Science Department UAF

Fellowship Description

The UAF will work closely with the Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Computer Science department (COS). The fellow’s primary responsibilities will be to support and contribute to our Climate & Inclusion Committee and our Broadening Participation in Computing departmental plan. Some projects include research on best practices for supporting underrepresented students in computing, developing a proposal for an equity in computing lecture series, evaluation of existing programs, and launching new initiatives. The fellow will also shape and/or propose new activities in this role.  

The fellow will work alongside COS faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, the fellow will collaborate with several DEI staff in SEAS.  

Ideal Candidates:  

Are interested in supporting and increasing underrepresented students in computing or STEM broadly  

Have a base line competency on diversity, equity, and inclusion  

Commitment to advocacy & making data-driven decisions  

Curiosity about academic departments role in enhancing diversity and inclusivity
